Built in Montana. For the Long Game.

CubCloud AI is a sovereign AI infrastructure and services company headquartered in Missoula, Montana.

Our Story

Montana has always been built by people who do things themselves. Ranchers who run their own land. Builders who own their own equipment. Businesses that aren't beholden to distant corporations for the infrastructure they depend on.

We applied that same philosophy to AI.

When we looked at the GPU cloud market, we saw an industry dominated by a handful of coastal hyperscalers offering shared infrastructure, opaque pricing, and no meaningful answer to where your data actually lives. For regulated industries — healthcare, finance, government, telecom — that's not just inconvenient. It's a compliance liability.

And when we looked at the AI tools market, we saw products built for Silicon Valley enterprises — not for the rancher who wants AI to help manage his herd, or the Missoula boutique that wants to automate customer communications, or the rural cooperative trying to modernize with a modest budget.

So we built both. Dedicated NVIDIA GPU infrastructure for organizations that need sovereign compute. And AI products — CubDen, CubCode, CubPlay, agentic systems, RAG — that make that infrastructure useful for businesses of every size.

CubCloud AI was founded by Joshua Rhines, Brandon Smith, Joshua Nowak, and Drew Surratt, and is headquartered at 400 West Broadway St, Suite 102 in Missoula.

The CubCloud Ecosystem

  • CubCloud AI — The innovation and services arm. CubDen, CubCode, CubPlay, agentic AI, RAG, consulting, and custom development.
  • CubCloud Campus — The infrastructure arm. Physical data center operations, GPU fleet management, and colocation services.
  • CubCloud Community (Nonprofit) — The community investment arm. 15% of profits reinvested into Montana AI education, workforce development, and community programs.

Our Mission

To build the foundation of Montana's AI future — and to prove that world-class AI infrastructure and AI tools can be built, operated, and owned locally, in service of the communities they power.

Team

Founding Team

Joshua Rhines

Joshua Rhines

CEO & Founder

Joshua founded CubCloud AI with the conviction that every Montana business deserves access to sovereign, world-class AI — regardless of size, budget, or technical sophistication. His path to AI infrastructure runs through an unlikely background: professional audio recording. Joshua spent years engineering and producing studio-quality recordings, developing a practitioner's instinct for the relationship between hardware, signal, and output quality — an instinct that translates directly to GPU infrastructure. He leads CubCloud's strategy, business development, and enterprise relationships, and serves as a founding member of the MontanAI Alliance. Joshua is active in the Montana High Tech Business Alliance, the MontanAI Alliance, and the Missoula Area Chamber of Commerce.
